New Automated Z-Read Service for Eureka
We’re pleased to announce the release of our “Automated Z-Read” function for Eureka. This feature has been requested and planned for some time and we have now come to the end of our testing and trial period. The feature is now available to all Eureka version 4.0 users with a valid Care Pack Subscription. Here are some answers to a few “frequently asked questions” which will give you more information on this service: - How does it work?
The automated Z-Read is set to run at a scheduled time each day. You can choose at what time & on which days the Z-Read runs. It does not even have to be at the same time each day. The Z-Read will run unattended and will send you an email when it completes. The email will include the Z-Read report as a PDF attachment. You can also pull out the Z-Read as an archive from within Eureka as normal.
- What happens if there’s an error?
If there’s a problem (E.g. Communication error) then an email will be sent which includes the error log file. If you can collect your email from home then you will know that an error has occurred which will need to be dealt with before the start of business the next day. We can also configure the system to send the error log direct to the LCCS Support Team.
Note: Our new SMS/Text Alert Service can give you an update to direct to your Mobile Phone. (See below)
- Can we send to multiple email addresses?
Yes. You can choose to send the Z-Read PDF to multiple people. You can also choose who gets the Z-Read attachment when it succeeds – and who gets an email if things don't go to plan! - Does any information get sent to LCCS?
Your Z-Read PDF with financial information will never be sent to LCCS. You may however choose to have the error log sent directly to us in the event of a problem with your Z-Read. This can help us ensure someone is available to help you first thing the next morning – and also speed up our response as we will have relevant information to hand.
- Do I need to leave my PC/Server switched on?
Yes. The PC on which the Z-Read runs needs to be left switched on. It is also important that power saving settings are set so that the PC doesn’t “go to sleep” or “hibernate” before or during the Z-Read. If you have a Server which is left switched on all the time then the Z-Read can probably be run from it. Our support staff can advise and help on how to set this all up for you.
- Can I just use this when I’m on holiday or away?
Yes. We can show you how to switch on & off the automation. The Z-Read can be run normally when you’re around - and then configured to run automatically when you are away on business or holiday.
- Can I use this if I have multiple branches?
Yes. Automated Z-Reads support any number of Eureka branches. It is in fact particularly valuable in this circumstance as you no longer need to manually Z-Read each branch individually.
You need to have email if you wish to get notified of the success/failure of your Z-Read. Otherwise it is not necessary for you to have email – you can just pull out the appropriate Z-Read from the Eureka Archives.
- It sounds great! How can I get it?
Call us on: 0870 068 7503 This benefit is only open to Care Pack Subscribers and is available as part of your subscription benefits. Just speak to one of our Support Advisors now for more information or to arrange installation.
Note: Eureka Gold Care Pack subscribers get the new function free of charge.

>>> SMS / Text Message Alerts <<< We are currently trialling an extension SMS/Text service. Each day you can receive a text message to indicate the success or failure of the Z-Read. Some basic information can be included in the message to keep you up to date: E.g. Success / Failed <Branch name> <Number of customers> <Net takings> There will be a small per message charge for this service - you will be able to buy a bundle of “text message credits” directly from LCCS. This service will be available to all Care Pack Subscribers in January 2008. Please speak to us today for more information on 0870 068 7503 or email support@lccs.co.uk
